Columnist Owen Jones clashed with Pimlico Plumbers founder Charlie Mullins after he claimed many workers in the UK were “properly lazy people” who “didn’t want to go to work”. In light of the remarks, Mr Jones shut down the founder of Pimlico Plumbers, saying he himself was “still work from home“. He added: “You complain about British workers working from home, but you’re always at home every time you’re on this show.” Mr Jones concluded that more than 3.8 million workers worked “a lot of overtime” without pay last year alone.
Speaking on the Jeremy Vine show, Mr Jones told the founder of Pimlico Plumbers: “I don’t agree with anything.

“Charlie, are you still working from home like always?”

As Mr Mullins tried to interrupt, Mr Jones said:

“You come on the show a lot to complain about British workers working from home, but every time you’re on this show, you’re always at home.

“Last year, 3.8 million workers in this country did unpaid work, they were not paid for overtime.

“This is a country that has one of the lowest levels of statutory sick pay in the developed world. People go to work sick in this country because they can’t afford to take time off.”

He insisted. “This is a country with the lowest benefits in all of Europe.

“You look in Scandinavia, unemployment benefits and social security are much higher, and yet they have more people in the labor market than we do.
