Birmingham shooting: Boy, 13, in critical condition after being shot in the back near Hockley flyover
A 13-year-old boy has been rushed to the hospital and is fighting for his life after being shot in the back in Birmingham.
The ambulance service said it had responded to a call of reports of a gunshot near the Hockley Circus area of the city yesterday night.
West Midlands Police said the child was walking in the area when he was shot in the back. He was rushed to the hospital shortly before 7pm and remains in hospital with serious injuries, police said.
“We are appealing after a teenager was shot in Hockley Circus, Birmingham, shortly before 7pm last night (18 November),” a statement read.
“Our investigations are in the very early stages, but we understand the 13-year-old was walking down Hockley Circus when he was shot in the back.
“He remains in hospital in a critical condition with injuries believed to be life-changing.
“Hockley Circus will remain closed for most of the morning as we conduct forensic enquiries. We thank you for your patience”.

The force has urged anyone who may have any information – from witnesses to people with dashcam footage – to come forward.
