International Women’s Day serves as an important reminder of the progress made towards gender equality, as well as the work that still needs to be done to achieve it. While some countries have made significant strides in improving women’s rights, others lag far behind, with women facing violence, discrimination, and oppression on a daily basis. The fact that the United Nations predicts it will take 300 years to achieve gender equality on the current track is a stark reminder that we cannot afford to become complacent in our efforts to achieve a more equitable world for all. As we mark International Women’s Day, it is essential that we continue to push for progress and advocate for the rights of all women, regardless of where they live.
