Danny Murphy shared that he understands the ‘frustration’ of Tottenham target Dean Henderson at Manchester United, as he told talkSPORT.

The former midfielder was reacting to the claims that Henderson is frustrated with his situation at Old Trafford and suggestions that he won’t be able to leave this month.

Henderson hasn’t played a Premier League game for Manchester United since the back end of last season and it’s pretty clear that he will continue to warm the bench.

Those in Manchester are having an abject time of it this season, but someone like Davie de Gea has probably been their best player, which isn’t good news for Henderson.

Despite that, it seems as though he will be staying put and when Murphy heard about that, he issued this response.

“He probably stayed, didn’t he, with the thought process that De Gea was dipping a bit,” said Murphy. “He has had a resurgence in form and has been tremendous.

“Even at the start of the season, he was being used a bit in cup competitions and stuff. But De Gea form has gone through the roof.

“I do get his frustration, especially with the World Cup coming up later in the year.

“But, it’s a difficult one, if you got an injury there, then you want quality to come in.”

The Manchester Evening News have claimed that Tottenham are keen on signing Henderson.

With the 2022 World Cup in Qatar around the corner, the Englishman needs to get out on the pitch, as soon as possible.

Jordan Pickford and Aaron Ramsdale are ahead of him in the goalkeeping pecking order.

Whilst Sam Johnstone, who is playing for West Brom in the Championship, is getting picked ahead of him, which says it all.

Come the summer, given Hugo Lloris’ contract situation, someone like Henderson would be a very good signing.

And with the World Cup starting in November, it probably would give him enough time to showcase his worth for a team that might just be in the Champions League.
