When does Spotify Wrapped 2021 come out? Latest release date news and when it stops tracking your song stats
The annual Spotify Wrapped feature gives us a change to reflect on what we’ve listened to as each year comes to an end.

As well as offering an insight into the songs, artists and podcasts people around the world have consumed throughout the year, the feature provides you with a deep dive into your own habits.

The results, as you have no doubt seen on social media, are always illuminating and, occasionally, ever so slightly embarrassing – here’s what we know about when this year’s edition will come out.

When will Spotify Wrapped 2021 come out?

Last year, the overall Spotify Wrapped stats went live on 1 December, with the personalised feature arriving a day later.

This was slightly earlier than the the 2019 version, which arrived on 5 December, while in 2018 it was on 4 December.

It’s therefore safe to assume that it will drop at some point in the first week of December again. Spotify tends not to confirm a release date in advance, although it has indicated that it will come “soon”.

The platform reportedly emailed listeners on Monday 8 November telling them to “get ready” for the 2021 edition, explaining: “It’s almost that time of year again, 2021 Wrapped is coming soon!”

On the official Wrapped site it currently says simply: “Wrapped is a deep dive into the artists, songs, and podcasts that defined your 2021.

“The more you listen, the better your Wrapped will be when we launch later this year.”

In the meantime, the streaming platform gives you the chance to revisit last year’s edition here.

When does Spotify Wrapped stop tracking?

If you wanted to frantically try and game your Spotify Wrapped data by giving it a fragile veneer of credibility, then sadly you’re out of luck.

The streaming service has previously acknowledged that it stops tracking your listening habits by November, with the data covering 1 January to 31 October, so this year’s research has been completed.

What does Spotify Wrapped tell you?

Last year, as well as your top five songs and artists, Spotify told you which genres you listened to the most, how many new artists you discovered and how long you listened for.

It also revealed if there were any songs you discovered long before anyone else, and made you do a mini quiz to see if you can guess your own listening habits.

Spotify signed off by saying: “Thanks for spending all 67 months of 2020 with us.”

Whether you choose to share the data with the world on social media depends, of course, on how embarrassing your music taste is (admit it, it’s very embarassing).
