Hasan Salihamidžić has been speaking to Sky Sports, amid talk of Robert Lewandowski moving to the Premier League with Liverpool.
It has been said that the 33-year-old held talks with the Reds over a move to Anfield, with his contract set to expire in June 2023.
The Bosnian – who works as Director of Football at Bayern Munich – has now revealed some quite significant news about the Poland international.
What’s the story?
Well, Salihamidžić has revealed that Lewandowski wants to leave Bayern Munich, in what was a bombshell interview with Sky Sports.
The 45-year-old said: “Yes, Lewandowski informed me that he didn’t want to accept our offer and he would like to leave the club.”
Now, we understand he’ll have been focused on the FA Cup final today, but this news will surely be of interest to Jürgen Klopp, if Liverpool really did hold talks with the Pole.
Liverpool do, however, face competition from Barcelona for Lewandowski’s signature, and it has even been said that he’s agreed a three-year contract with the Spanish giants.
Robert Lewandowski & Jürgen Klopp would work well at Liverpool
In our view, Lewandowski would score plenty of goals at Anfield, as Klopp certainly knows how to get the best out of him.
Lewandowski has scored more goals under Klopp than he has while working under any other manager, so they clearly have a special connection.
In fact, Klopp even said that Lewandowski is the best player he’s ever coached, which speaks volumes given the talent he’s managed throughout his career.
Keep an eye on this situation, as it will be very interesting to see where Lewandowski ends up this summer, if he does get his wish.
